1. Short Shorts
Quite honestly, we don’t really think these are ever an appropriate article of clothing past your
teen years. There are some great ways to highlight your figure sans showing your booty. If you
live somewhere warm or need a great option for vacation, opt for a pair with a longer inseam
in a breezy linen or summery print.
2. Low-Rise Denim
We are convinced that any body type can have the illusion of a muffin top in low rise denim.
This unflattering fit hits the hips much too low and often results in the uncomfortable “pull up”
all day long. Instead, try a pair in a flattering mid or high-rise and never worry about your hot
pink undies playing peek-a-boo again.
3. Novelty Tees
Still wearing your old tees you’ve had since college? Old t-shirts can look sloppy and
unprofessional. If you love the comfort a t-shirt offers but want something more polished, opt
for an updated, edgy (not dingy) rocker or band tee for a more grown up version of a classic T-
shirt.
4. Ill-Fitting Clothing
Nothing cheapens the look of an outfit than poor fit. Too much or too little fabric or pulling
seams or buttons is distracting and immediately gives the wrong impression. Structured
blazers, denim and pants and blouses look more expensive and polished with the proper fit.
With tailoring options available on every corner and in many department stores there is no excuse to wear anything that doesn’t fit!
5. Plastic Flip-Flops
Time to retire the shower shoes for something more grown up (and not made of foam). Try a
chic slide sandal, a gladiator sandal with fun detailing, or a classic slip on thong in a durable
leather for a comfortable and stylish option for warmer temps.
6. Mini-Skirts
Similar to your short shorts, mini-skirts leave too little to the imagination. More age
appropriate skirt options include breezy midi skirts in an eye-catching print or a denim skirt
with a longer inseam.
*Style Tip: When shopping for skirts, be aware of your proportions. If you’re petite and buy a
midi skirt that is too long, it can look frumpy. Opt for something that hits just above the knee to
lengthen your silhouette. If you are taller, try a midi skirt that hits mid-calf. You can pull off
this look with a longer leg!
7. The Boring Suit
Ladies, it is high time to ditch that plain black or navy suit you bought straight out of college.
Try new colors, silhouettes like high waisted trousers or a statement jacket, or bold accessories
like a printed shoe or handbag to update your suit game.
